Job Role
Cargo agents are responsible for coordinating and facilitating the transportation and shipment of goods. They work with various stakeholders, including airlines, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and customers, to ensure that cargo is transported efficiently and safely from origin to destination.
Responsibilities
Schedule and book cargo shipments with transportation carriers.
Prepare and handle all necessary shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, air waybills, and customs paperwork.
Effective verbal and written communication for coordinating with clients and carriers.
Manage special cargo such as hazardous materials, perishables, and oversized items, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
Requirements
Experience with specific types of cargo (e.g., hazardous materials, perishables) can be beneficial.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients, colleagues, and carriers.
Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting packages and handling cargo, if required by the job.
Familiarity with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
